Oyster Reef is as a testament to Rees Jones' masterful course design. This 18-hole championship course is a visual and strategic delight, framed by serene lagoons, lush foliage, and the captivating vistas of Port Royal Sound.  From the moment you step onto the course, it’s clear that every element has been thoughtfully crafted to provide an exceptional experience. The routing of Oyster Reef is particularly notable, featuring slightly elevated tees that offer stunning views, and velvety fairways that wind gracefully through a landscape dominated by stately live oaks and towering pine trees. The design emphasizes strategic play, with well-positioned fairway bunkers that frequently come into play and greens of varying sizes and tiers that demand precision on approach shots.

The jewel of Oyster Reef is undoubtedly its signature hole, the par-3 sixth, highlighted by a stunning panorama of Port Royal Sound. The tee shot on this hole is as demanding as it is picturesque, requiring precision to navigate the surrounding water hazards and reach the green.  Oyster Reef is also known for its exceptional maintenance, with pristine conditions that make it one of the best-maintained courses on the island. Open year-round, it has become a favorite among serious golf enthusiasts and locals alike, who appreciate the combination of challenge, beauty, and playability that the course offers.

Signature Hole:

  • Hole 6: The signature hole is a standout not only at Oyster Reef but across Hilton Head Island. The panoramic view of Port Royal Sound provides a breathtaking backdrop for a challenging tee shot. Surrounded by water hazards, this hole demands a precise shot to a well-protected green.  You won't have any trouble finding room in the memory bank for this one.
